Behavior Modification

Behavior Modification involves changing a (usually undesireable) behavior. This involves counter-conditioning, positive reinforcement of desireable behaviors, and eliminating stressors that contribute to the bad behavior.

Behaviors classified under "behavior modification" include: marking in the house, barking or lunging at people or other animals, separation anxiety, fears or phobias, resource guarding, etc.

Pro tip: animal massage is a great way to reduce a dog's anxiety when done correctly.

Problem Solving

This involves helping dog owners find solutions to their dog's nuisance behavior. Such behaviors can include: barking, digging, scratching, urinating or defecating in the house, coprophagia (poop eating), jumping on people, leash-pulling, counter-surfing, stealing, chewing, nipping, reactivity on walks, door-dashing, and more.

Manners and Obedience Training

Every dog should know basic cues and manners. Pet Lover's Passion can help you train your pup for attaining their Canine Good Citizen, or just so you have a loyal companion who adores listening to you!

Activity and Trick Training

This type of training is a great way to enrich your dog's life and improve the bond between you and your dog. Not only are tricks fun, they also help your dog expend energy in a productive way! (Thereby reducing undesireable behavior.)

Activity Training involves dog sports such as agility, rally obedience, scent work (aka nose work), fast cat, barn hunt, and others.

The Benefits of Teaching Tricks and Solving Problem Behavior

The benefits of training can be invaluable. Imagine enjoying days with less canine-related stress and a dog that listens to you the first time you speak.
Imagine a dog who comes when called, sits politely at doorways while guests walk in, doesn't chew on your shoes, and, quite possibly, barks less at passers-by. You don't have to be pulled by your dog on walks anymore; teach him to walk beside you.

Maybe you've always wanted your dog to learn more tricks... the good news is: he can - no matter his age! The possibilities are endless. There is no limit to how much your dog can learn!
Not only are tricks fun and impressive, they are a great form of exercise for you and your dog, providing wonderful mental stimulation, while working and building patience, trust and a great partnership with your dog.
Learning tricks can help a dog relieve stress by providing an outlet for energy through mental stimulation. It can also help fearful dogs gain confidence and develop greater trust with their care taker and other people. Better yet, the more a dog learns, the more he will want to learn and will become faster at it.
Contact Pet Lover's Passion and ask about Trick Training or join the Dog Tricks Membership, you'll be glad you did!

"Highly Recommend!"

"Before Heather we had 2 over-reactive dogs that we dreaded taking on walks. Within 4 sessions our dogs are calmer around the house, on walks, and around other dogs. Heather is such a good observer of animal behavior…she was able to point out the details we were missing. She gave us effective homework between meetings and we now have more obedient dogs and a better relationship with them."

Trainer comment: Thank you so much! I'm so glad I could help!

Nutrition Affects Behavior

There are many factors affecting the way a dog behaves; one of them is the food that he or she eats. The microbiome in your dog's gut can strongly affect his or her behavior, as well as the vitamins and minerals (or lack thereof) in their body.
